Wilma Jean Revell, 96, of Lebanon, went to her heavenly home Monday, August 28, 2023, surrounded by her loving family. Wilma was born on January 19, 1927, a mile North of Advance, Indiana, to Basil and Gladys (Groves) Wright. Wilma graduated from Dover High School with the class of 1945. She married Robert Revell on August 24, 1947. They were married by the Rev. Raymond Duff at her family home. Wilma worked as a typist in the office of the Real Silk Hosiery Co. in Indianapolis and as a telephone operator at the old Witham Hospital. She also worked at the Shumate Printing Co. in Lebanon and as a Deputy Clerk in the Boone County Clerk’s Office. For many years, Wilma worked as a Republican Judge on the Harrison Township Election Board. Wilma and her husband farmed, she loved driving the tractor and disking the fields alongside her husband. Together they ran a small dairy for several years. They liked traveling out West and seeing the mountains, especially in the Yellowstone National Park area. Wilma did a lot of sewing for her three daughters when they were in grade school. Wilma was a 4-H leader for a few years and enjoyed entering the Adult Division of the 4-H Fair for many years. She entered projects every year until she was 92, winning many ribbons, several champion ribbons for her ceramics and photography projects. Wilma liked to watch the Indiana Pacers and the Colts games. She was a member of the “Gingham Gals Home Economics Club” for several years and a member of Indiana Farm Bureau. Wilma is a member of the New Brunswick Church of Christ and a former member of the “Come Join Us Class.” Wilma and Robert have four children: Janet Halford (Dennis) of Crawfordsville, IN; Judy Pighetti (Dave) of Denver, CO; Jayne Huckstep (Charles) of Cutler, IN; and Jerry Revell (Carla) of rural Lebanon. They had 9 Grandchildren: Christopher Halford (Catherine); Tyde Stohler (Michelle); Carrie Gourley (Dean); Crystal Halford; Benjamin Huckstep (Emily); Ryan Revell (Stephanie); Jeremy Huckstep (Holly); Amanda Lough; Daniel Huckstep (Leslie). They have 20 Great- Grandchildren, and 3 Great-Great Grandchildren. For the past several years, Wilma lived at CrownPointe Assisted Living of Lebanon, where she enjoyed playing Bingo, listening to the music entertainment, and sitting in her favorite chair. The family would like to thank the staff at CrownPointe for taking such good care of our mother. Wilma was preceded in death by her husband Robert, her parents, her brother LaVern Wright and his wife Lois, her brother Lloyd Wright and his wife Joyce, her brother-in-law Chuck Rasmuson, and several cousins. Wilma’s sister Norma Rasmuson is still living. Family and friends will gather Friday, September 1, for visitation from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. in the Strawmyer & Drury Mortuary, 2400 N. Lebanon Street, Lebanon. A funeral service will be held Saturday, September 2, at 10:30 a.m., with Pastor Chris Cregger officiating in the Mortuary. Wilma will be laid to rest at Oak Hill Cemetery in Lebanon. Memorial contributions may be made to New Brunswick Church of Christ or CrownPointe Assisted Living of Lebanon.
