Mr. Wendal Herring, 82, passed away on Friday, December 13, 2024, at Witham Memorial Hospital in Lebanon. He was born October 31, 1942, in Greensburg, Indiana, a son of the late Howard Graham Herring and Mildred Aldean (Brinson) Herring.
In 1965, he was married to Rebecca Ann (Roberson) Herring in Madison, Indiana. She preceded him in death on December 24, 2021.
Wendal honorably served his country in the US Navy from 1960 to 1963 as a seaman and specializing in mine sweeping.
He and his wife, Rebecca, relocated to Lebanon in 1974. He was employed at Herff – Jones Jewelry and later General Motors Allison Transmission, retiring in 2004.
Wendal enjoyed gardening, hunting and working on cars. Most of all he enjoyed spending time with his family. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend who will be greatly missed.
Survivors include his children, Wendy L. Herring of Lebanon, Robin E. (Kevin) Beals of Sherman, Texas, Linda M. Martin of Lebanon, and Michael C. Herring of Lebanon; several grandchildren; sister, Donna (Charles) Higgins of Madison; and nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents and wife, Wendal was preceded in death by his sisters, June K. Tamietti
and Wilma E. Linville and his brother Elmo E. Boyce.
Private Family Services with Military Rites were held at Myers Mortuary. He was laid to rest at Browns Wonder Cemetery.
