The City of Frankfort is saddened to announce the passing of the injured deer that was transported to Purdue University Animal Hospital on January 16, 2024. Despite the dedicated efforts of the veterinary professionals at Purdue, the deer succumbed to its injuries earlier this morning. Mayor Sheets stated, “We were all hopeful for a positive outcome for Heron. I can’t thank the Purdue vets enough.” The Purdue University Animal Hospital will be conducting a necropsy on the deceased deer. In light of this unfortunate event, Mayor Sheets and the Board of Public Works will be meeting to discuss the future of the Frankfort Parks Department, including potential measures to enhance wildlife safety and prevent similar incidents in the future.
