Sue Ann Farrow died peacefully on Nov. 4, 2024, in Zionsville, IN. She was 89 years old. Sue was a beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was blessed to have been visited by all her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and spouses before her passing. Just prior to her death, the family gathered at Sue’s residence and sang to her some of her favorite hymns. Sue was born on April 28, 1935, in Lebanon, IN, the daughter of Martha (Rash) Stevenson and of Robert L. Stevenson. She grew up on the family farm in Dover, IN, where she lived with her parents and grandparents, Neva (Perkins) Rash and Stephen A. Rash. She married her high school sweetheart, David Gene Farrow on April 25, 1954, who preceded her in death. In her youth, Sue was very active in Girl Scouts, 4-H, and extra-curriculars at Dover High School. In high school, she was a twirler, a cheerleader, and the pianist for many musical groups. She enjoyed being on the yearbook staff and was the treasurer of her senior class. Sue was a lifelong member of Dover Christian Church. She taught Sunday School, was a member of Ladies Aid, and an avid missions supporter. For over 50 years, Sue served as a pianist and organist and last played for a “Hymn Sing” at the age of 85. Her musical legacy continues today through her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Sue’s family brought joy to her life. As an only child of an only child, she aspired to have a large family. She and Gene raised four children on their farm outside of Jamestown, IN. Sue was co-owner and operator of Farrow Farms and Farrow Grain. Even with the duties of farming, Sue prioritized her family by attending as many sporting events, choir concerts, band performances, and musicals as possible. If a family member was in something, Sue showed up. Sue’s faith was strong, and she prayed faithfully for all members of her family by name each night. She encouraged each child, grandchild, and great-grandchild to grow in their faith, find a church home, and remain close as a family. Her encouragement extended well beyond her family as she sent out hundreds of greeting cards with “just the right” words to church members, community members, friends, and family. Survivors include children Marcia (Richard Jr.) Overfield, Robert (Zoe) Farrow, Sandra (Eric) Imboden, and Sheila (Joe) Johnson; grandchildren Rachel (Mitch) Hammersley, Ashley (Aaron) Balke, Rich (Laura) Overfield III, Dr. Robert (Jackie) Farrow II, Jaqueline (Blake) Uhler, Victoria Farrow, Jackson Imboden, Lucas Imboden, Bennett (Kelso) Imboden, Christian (Molly) Zimmerman, Shannon (Zimmerman) Chandler, and Ethan Zimmerman; step-grandchildren Nick (Brooke) Johnson and Hillary Johnson; great-grandchildren Lena Hammersley, William Hammersley, Warren Hammersley, Jude Balke, Jubilee Balke, Asa Balke, Easton Overfield, Brooks Overfield, Beau Farrow, Kai Farrow, Aiden Uhler, AnnMarie Uhler, Benson Uhler, Cohen Uhler, Agnes “Aggie” Zimmerman, and Shepherd Chandler; and by step-great-grandchild Carter Johnson. The family wishes to extend their extreme gratitude to the staff of The Grand Victorian of Zionsville, previously known as Independence Village, the Luminary Hospice Staff, and to Extended Hand Private Health Care for their kind and compassionate care of Sue. Family and friends will gather Sunday, November 10, for visitation from 2 p.m. until 6 p.m. in the Strawmyer & Drury Mortuary, 2400 N. Lebanon Street, Lebanon. A funeral service will be held Monday, November 11, at 11 a.m. in the Mortuary. Sue will be laid to rest at Dover Cemetery, Dover, Indiana.
