State Deals With Medicaid Shortfall

How did this happen? That's the question being asked by lawmakers at the Statehouse over a huge shortfall in Medicaid funding. The state will be short nearly a billion dollars in funding for Medicaid in the coming year, that's according to the latest revenue forecast. Cris Johnston, who heeds up the state's budget office says unexpected spending and more people enrolling in Medicaid played a factor in the shortfall. To make up that gap he anticipates some tough decisions ahead for state lawmakers which may mean spending cuts. Democrats say can't happen.
