Sonja Sue Summers

Sonja Sue Summers, 86, of Lebanon, passed away Monday, September 30, 2024, at her home surrounded by family. She was born May 20, 1938, in Lebanon, a daughter of the late James “Jim” and Jane (Small) Isenhower. Sonja married James Summers on September 10, 1955, and he preceded her in death June 2008. Sonja graduated from Lebanon High School and worked as the bookkeeper for their family business, Summers Trucking. She enjoyed playing cards with her family and friends, along with reading James Patterson novels. Sonja loved to travel, most memorably to Hawaii and Branson, and she enjoyed yearly trips to Tennessee the night of Thanksgiving. Survivors include her children, James “Greg” Summers (Kristina Harris), Lana Summers-Vickrey (Mikel), and Gerry Summers (Debbie); grandchildren, James “Greggie” Summers, II (Cassie), Randy Rusher (Kristi Greene), April Hyde (Kevin), Jamie Summers, Garrett Summers, Amber Summers, Devin Summers, Ryden Vickrey, and Jack Vickrey; 11 great grandkids; one great-great grandkid; siblings, Peggy Pennington (Charlie), Jerry Isenhower (Janet), Becky Cline (Rick Matrana), Nancy Neal (Wayne), Penny Martin (Lester), John Iddings (Patty), Wendell Iddings (Nikki), and Janie Mikesell; and niece, Mandy Caldwell. Memorial contributions in her memory may be made to the Boone County Cancer Society, 1208 N. Lebanon Street, Lebanon, IN 46052. Sonja will be laid to rest at Lincoln Memory Gardens in Whitestown. Final care of Sonja has been entrusted to the Strawmyer & Drury Mortuary, 2400 N. Lebanon Street, Lebanon.
