On June 24, 2024, at approximately 5:06pm, Boone County Sheriff’s Office was dispatched to a motor vehicle accident with injury involving a bicyclist in the area of State Road 32 and County Road 1200 East.
Upon arrival deputies located, the bicyclist, John Girrod of Zionsville, IN on the side of the roadway and a bicycle in the roadway. A motor vehicle driven by Thomas Carr of Sheridan, IN that was involved in the accident was parked to the side of the roadway. Mr. Girrod appeared to have injuries to his neck and back and was transported to a local hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries. Mr. Carr did not sustain any injuries.
The Boone County Sheriff’s Office Fatal Alcohol Crash Team (FACT) was requested by deputies for assistance. This incident is still under investigation at this time.
