Rosemary K. Mitchell

Rosemary K. Mitchell 89, of Lebanon, passed away on October 30, 2023, at Witham Health Services in Lebanon. Rosemary was born January 9, 1934 in Washington, Indiana, a daughter of the late Louis and Julia (Smith) McGee.  Rosemary graduated from Washington Catholic High School in 1951. She married Gerald R. Vance of Washington and later married Donald Gene Mitchell of Lebanon; both preceded her in death. Rosemary started her career as a telephone operator at the Indiana Bell Telephone Company in Indianapolis and went on to work as the Assistant Manager for the Holiday Inn of Lebanon for many years where she became very well-known and made many friends in the community. She later worked at the Boone County Clerk's Office in Lebanon, where she retired. Rosemary, also known as "Rosemom" or "momma Rose" loved spending time with family, friends and especially her children and grandchildren. She also loved cooking, trying new recipes, shopping, golf cart riding, finding new and unique places to eat, going to festivals and taking day trips around Indiana. Rosemary never knew a stranger and was a friend to everyone she met. She had a fun and sassy personality that she shared with everyone. She enjoyed laughing, telling jokes and living life.  Many people knew her as the life of the party, and she will forever be loved by her family and friends. Rosemary was a member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Lebanon, the VFW Post 910 Women's Auxiliary, the American Legion Post 113 Women's Auxiliary and the Purdue Extension Home Cooking Club of Boone County. Survivors include; her son, Tyler (Mary Cross) Mitchell (and children Lexi and Donnie) of Lebanon; daughter, Amy Mitchell of Lebanon; brother Daniel McGee of Camby, Indiana, sister Ordette (Tom) Jones of Lebanon, Annie Thorp-Foster of Indianapolis and many other beloved nieces, nephews and extended family. Rosemary was preceded in death by her parents, her infant siblings, Donnie Joe McGee and Betty Jean McGee; a brother Louis McGee of Bloomington, Indiana and sister Barbara McGee-Spear of Birmingham, Alabama. Visitation will be held on Sunday, November 5th from 1pm-5pm at the Strawmyer and Drury Mortuary located at 2400 North Lebanon Street in Lebanon with a Rosary Service being held from 1pm-1:30pm and a prayer service from 1:30pm-2pm. A Funeral Mass will be held at 11am on Monday, November 6th at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 319 East South Street in Lebanon, with visitation from 10am-11am and graveside services to follow, where Rosemary will be laid to rest at Oak Hill Cemetery in Lebanon. Memorial contributions may be made in Rosemary's memory to the VFW Women’s Auxiliary of Lebanon, St. Joseph's Catholic Church, or the Purdue Extension Home Cooking Club of Boone County.
