Robert Lawrence “Larry” Turnbull was born in Summit, New Jersey on November 13, 1947 and died peacefully in his home in Lebanon, Indiana on November 12, 2024. He was the son of William Grey Turnbull Jr. and Dorothy Ellen (Lawrence) Turnbull. Growing up, Larry was a bit of a “Free Spirit” (which is code for - wild child) but he settled down and attended the University of Texas at El Paso. His education was cut short due to being shot in a hunting accident and a very long recovery. He then went on to manage a Savings and Loan office but soon after there was an armed robbery, which forced him to rethink his career choices. He went back to college and majored in Agriculture and eventually bought a farm, which was short lived due to an early snow storm that ruined his crop. He decided to focus on his carpentry skills, which proved to be successful as he incorporated his artistic talent, his unique social skills and his keen sense of listening. Larry was always good for a warm smile and a good laugh. He was fun to be around as he had the gift of gab until he unfortunately lost his voice to cancer. In his later years he would develop a love for stained glass. He designed and built many pieces for Mary & he to enjoy. He is survived by his son, Brent Weston “Wes” Turnbull; two brothers, William G. Turnbull III and John Douglas “Doug” Turnbull; four grandchildren; and his great grandson Harry. He is preceded in death by his daughter Cara “Cack” who was taken from us at a very young age and his love of thirty years, Mary Williams. Memorial Visitation will be held on Wednesday, November 20, 2024, from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. at Myers Mortuary, 1502 N. Lebanon Street, in Lebanon, Indiana.
