Robert L. Black

Robert L. Black, 71, passed away at St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis on Monday, May 25, 2020. He was born in Lebanon, Indiana, on September 16, 1948, a son of the late Lawrence Patrick Black and Margaret Catherine (Williams) Black Hagensick. Bob was a longtime resident of Lebanon, except for his childhood years where he briefly lived in Arizona and Georgia. He was a 1966 graduate of Lebanon High School. In 1995, he was married to Judith Kay (Conkright) Black in Lebanon, Indiana. She passed away on October 22, 2013. He is survived by his companion, Pamela (Switzer) King of Lebanon. Bob worked for Bryant Heating & Cooling, Witham Memorial Hospital, and for the last thirty-five years Vanco Commercial Service in Indianapolis, retiring in 2017. He was a member of the American Son’s Legion Post 113 and the American Legion Riders of Indiana. Bob was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He enjoyed motorcycle riding, boating, camping and anything that involved the great outdoors. Survivors include: Companion: Pam King of Lebanon Children: Robert L. Black, Jr. of Marion Shelly Black and companion, Troy Wallin of Mooresville Mistie (Donny) Coverdale of Lebanon Carrie (Chris) Burcham of Jamestown Grandchildren: Justin Black Joshua Black Brandy Martin Mikal Black McKenzie Scott Jordan Coverdale Dylan Coverdale Chloe Gillan Riley Burcham Cameron Burcham Seven Great Grandchildren Brother: Stan (Frankie) Skelton of Lebanon Numerous Nieces and Nephews In addition to his parents, Bob was preceded in death by siblings, Bill Black, David Black, Ruth Ford, and Nancy Newman. Graveside Services are planned for 11:00 a.m. Saturday, June 6, 2020 at Lincoln Memory Gardens in Whitestown, Indiana. Immediately following services friends and family are welcome to join us for Bob’s Celebration of Life at the American Legion, 1020 Hendricks Drive, Lebanon, IN 46052. Memorials may be made in Bob’s memory to the charity of the donor’s choice. Myers Mortuary and Boone County Crematory have been entrusted with his care.
