Raymond Dean “Ray” McQuern, 81, of Lebanon, has gone on to be with his heavenly Father on Tuesday, December 17, 2024. He was born January 31, 1943, in Frankfort, to the late Robert Dale McQuern I and the late Helen Gene Stephenson McQuern Ayers.
Ray married his high school sweetheart, Patricia Ann Roberts McQuern on July 20, 1963, and they were happily united in marriage for 61years.
He attended school in Clinton, Hamilton, and Boone County, graduating from Lebanon High School in 1961. Ray was a longtime resident of Boone County and worked for thirty years at Allison Gas Turbine in Indianapolis, retiring in 1991. After retirement, he worked at Trophy Club Golf Course for 15 years and Weliever Chevy for 5 years.
Ray and Pat spent 14 winters in Florida and had dual membership in the Christian Church in Wildwood. He was a former, active member of the Mechanicsburg Christian Church for over 30 years. He was most recently a member of the Lebanon Christian Church.
Ray enjoyed time with family, playing music with friends, camping, hunting, fishing, golfing, football, and watching his grandchildren play their sports. He enjoyed being outdoors and especially enjoyed time spent at Hanging Rock Christian Camp. Ray was a member of the Family Reunion String Band and had played for 30 years with the band at the Pioneer Building at the Indiana State Fair.
Survivors include his wife, Pat; daughters, Tricia (Bob) Hine of Roanoke, VA and Deana (Rob) Polgar of Lebanon; grandchildren, Joseph (Sarah) Hine, Elizabeth (Scott) Troost, Zachary (fiancé, Allie) Polgar, and Justyne Polgar; great grandchildren, Callie and Jonah Hine; siblings, Robert (Karen) McQuern II of Monticello; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Ray was preceded in death by his sister, Suzanne (Ken) Lovell.
Family and friends will gather Saturday, December 21, for visitation from 10 a.m. until the time of the funeral celebration service at 12 p.m. with Pastors Larry Sims and Rocky Baire officiating in the Strawmyer & Drury Mortuary, 2400 N. Lebanon Street, Lebanon. Ray will be laid to rest at Oak Hill Cemetery in Lebanon.
