>>U.S. Women's Basketball Crushes Japan (Paris) -- The U.S. women's basketball team cruised to a dominating win in their opener at the Paris Olympics. Team USA blew out Japan 102-76 led by A'ja Wilson's 24 points and 13 rebounds. The women extended its Olympic winning streak to 56 straight as they will forge ahead in their quest for an eighth straight gold medal. Group play continues for the U.S. on Thursday against Belgium. Meanwhile, the U.S. men's team plays its second game tomorrow against South Sudan. >>U.S. Men's Gymnastics Wins Bronze Medal (Paris) -- The U.S. men's gymnastics team is bringing home an Olympic medal for the first time since 2008. Team USA came away with the bronze in the team competition in Paris on Monday. The women's gymnastics team final takes place today. Simone Biles will be leading Team USA as she aims for her fifth Olympic gold medal and eighth medal overall. The U.S. looks to return to the top spot after settling for the silver medal at the 2020 Tokyo Games. >>U.S. Wins Four More Swimming Medals (Paris) -- The Stars and Stripes continued its domination in the pool yesterday. Katie Grimes and Emma Weyant picked up silver and bronze medals in the women's 400 meter individual medley. Luke Hobson won the bronze in the men's 200 meter freestyle and Ryan Murphy also captured a bronze medal in the 100 meter backstroke. The action continues in the pool today with three more medal events. American Caeleb Dressel will go for his second gold in Paris in the men's 50-meter freestyle. >>Team USA Men's Soccer Wraps Up Group Stage Against Guinea (Paris) -- Team USA's men's soccer team wraps up the group stage of Olympic play today against Guinea in Paris. The United States is second in the Group A standings after a 4-1 win over New Zealand on Saturday and a 3-0 loss to France last Wednesday. The U.S. can advance to the quarterfinals with a win and can also advance with other scenarios. Guinea is 0-and-2 after losses to New Zealand and France last week. >>U.S. Women's Rugby Sevens Advances To Semifinals (Paris) -- The U.S. women's rugby sevens squad made history after becoming the first team to advance to the semifinals with a 17-7 win over Great Britain. Team USA will take on New Zealand in the semifinals today. Canada clashes with Australia in the other semifinal, with the two winners set to meet in the gold medal game later in the day. A win against New Zealand will guarantee the U.S. at least a silver medal finish.
