Lebanon High School Hires New Girls Soccer Coach

Lebanon High School Athletic Director Phil Levine announced the hiring of a girls' soccer coach. Here is the press release, "I would like to take this opportunity to welcome Garrett Wertz as our new Head Girls Soccer Coach at Lebanon High School."

Coach Wertz has extensive background and knowledge in both playing and coaching soccer, and we are thrilled to have him lead our program.

Coach Wertz has been passionate about soccer since the age of two.  He played four years of varsity soccer at Monrovia High School before continuing his collegiate career at Milligan College. Following his playing days, he has dedicated himself to coaching, bringing his knowledge, expertise, and leadership to various programs.

For the past four years, Coach Wertz has served as the Head Varsity Boys Soccer Coach at Monrovia High School, where he built strong relationships with his players, enhancing their soccer knowledge and skills.  He also fostered positive character traits and life skills to help them succeed both on and off the field.  Additionally, Coach Wertz implemented a variety of tactical and strategic formations. He played a key role in establishing a community youth feeder program. His coaching background also includes two and a half years as the Head Coach for the U-19 and U-15 Boys teams at Komets FC, along with supporting and assisting their Girls Programs.  Coach Wertz has a proven track record of guiding players to collegiate opportunities, assisting with recruitment, and ensuring student-athletes have access to opportunities beyond high school soccer.

Coach Wertz currently holds his USSF National D Coaching License and is actively working toward obtaining his C License. His commitment to expanding his coaching knowledge and integrating innovative strategies makes him an ideal choice to continue to grow and build the Lebanon Girls Soccer Program.

In addition to his soccer coaching experience, Coach Wertz brings a wealth of knowledge and experience in education. He is a graduate of Monrovia High School and holds a bachelor’s degree in biology and Secondary Education from Milligan College.  Recently, Coach Wertz transitioned from his previous role of caching and teaching at Monrovia and is now teaching Science classes at Lebanon High School.  His passion for building meaningful relationships with students, fostering mindfulness, and utilizing strong communication skills will undoubtedly benefit both his students and athletes.

As a coach and educator, Coach Wertz is committed to creating a positive and enriching experience for his student-athletes. His ability to identify when differentiate instruction and coaching is needed and adjust to meet the needs of his players, both on and off the field, will help shape the success of our Girls Soccer Program and ensure that our student-athletes thrive both academically and athletically.

Coach Wertz resides in Martinsville but looking to move closer this summer with his wife Delaney and two ½ year old daughter named Wynter.
