Kenneth R. Cross

Kenneth R. Cross, 93, went to be with the Lord Sunday, October 20, 2024, at Homewood Health Campus in Lebanon. Ken was born in 1931, in Indianapolis, a son of the late John and Alberta (Lehman) Cross. He married Jean Snellenberger in 1958. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Jean (Snellenberger) Cross; brother, Raymond Cross and sister-in-law, June Cross. Also, nephew, Tom Cross; niece, Margaret-Ann (Cross) Estep; brothers-in-law, Don Gardner, Chris Litscher, Joseph Dixon and Russell Snellenberger; and sisters-in-law, Bonita Snellenberger, Nancy Snellenberger, and Kay Dixon. Survived by sons, David Cross (Amy) and Ron Cross; grandchildren, Jonathan Cross and Anda Arroway; nieces, Jan (Cross) Messer, Sue Cross, and nephew, Raymond Scott Cross. Also, sisters-in-law, Joan Gardner, Helen Litscher, and brother-in-law, Earl Snellenberger. He served in Germany while in the Army during the Korean War. Ken attended Rose Polytechnic and graduated from Indiana Central with a degree in Engineering. He retired from General Motors as a research engineer where he earned 17 patents and was the recipient of General Motors' Kettering Award, GM's highest internal recognition for technical innovation. Ken was accomplished in many areas holding licenses as a Physical Engineer, Real Estate Broker, Electrician and as a pilot. Ken had a passion for The Arc of Greater Boone County where he served as the President and Treasurer for many years and continued to serve as a board member for about 40 years overall until 2023. Ken loved the Lord. He was a longtime member of North Liberty Christian Church where he served as an Elder, and he most recently attended Walnut Street Baptist Church. He also loved spending time with his family, enjoying many camping trips and weekends at the lake. Family and friends will gather Saturday, October 26, for visitation from 12 p.m. until time of the funeral service at 2 p.m. with Pastor Richard Reynolds officiating in the Strawmyer & Drury Mortuary, 2400 N. Lebanon Street, Lebanon. Ken will be laid to rest at North Liberty Cemetery, 6001 W. 52nd Street, Indianapolis, IN 46254, at 4 p.m. You are invited to visit the website www.strawmyerdrury.com where you may sign his online register and leave a personal message.
