Kathleen Diane Mendez Hashem, 71, of Lebanon, died Thursday, November 14, 2024, at St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis. She was born May 31, 1953, in Frankfort, a daughter of the late Donald F. and Joan L. (Sipe) Mendez. Kathy graduated from Lebanon High School with the class of 1972. She had a kind and vibrant personality, and loved singing and dancing. Kathy was a caretaker for her younger siblings and also enjoyed caring for babies and dogs. She was a faithful member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church and enjoyed volunteering and working there over the years. Survivors include her daughters, Natalie Patterson and Shelbie Hashem; granddaughter, Evelyn; and siblings, Maria Mendez-Hogan of Gilroy, CA, Marcia Mendez of St. Petersburg, FL, Susan Mendez-Crabtree of Winter Park, FL, Anita Mendez-Little of Fishers, Elizabeth Mendez-Snider of Indianapolis, Michael Mendez of Indianapolis; and several nieces and nephews. Kathy was preceded in death by her siblings, Martin Mendez, Gregory Mendez, Montfort “Monty” Mendez, Janice Mendez, and David Mendez. Family and friends will gather Wednesday, November 20, for a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. in the St. Joseph Catholic Church, 319 E South Street, Lebanon. Kathy will be laid to rest at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Lebanon. Final care of Kathy has been entrusted to the Strawmyer & Drury Mortuary, 2400 N. Lebanon Street, Lebanon.
