Jane Marjorie (Ouellette) Dobbins

Jane Marjorie (Ouellette) Dobbins, 69, passed away on Wednesday, April 9, 2025, at Ascension St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis, Indiana. She bravely fought her battle against metastatic breast cancer and all of those who knew her are so proud of her for the resilience and fortitude she showed.

Jane was born in Quincy, Massachusetts on February 15, 1956; a daughter of the late Wallace “Bud” and Marjorie (Thompson) Ouellette.

Jane earned her Bachelor of Science degree in 1978 from Bowling Green State University in Ohio in Social Work.

On June 15, 1979, she married Michael Allen Dobbins in Mentor, Ohio. They returned to Bowling Green, Ohio where Michael finished his graduate studies at Bowling Green State University. They were lovingly and happily married for almost 46 years.

In 1980, Jane and Michael moved to Lafayette, Indiana when Michael was employed at Eli Lilly and Company. In 1981, Jane was employed by Group Homes for Children where she would remain for 41 years, eventually assuming the role of Director. Throughout her career, Jane was passionate and caring for the underserved and troubled youth in the state of Indiana. She was a long-term member and participant in IARCA (Indiana Association of Resources and Child Advocacy) and she was the board president for a term. Jane was honored with the Cathy Graham Life of Service Award from IARCA in 2021; she was very proud of that accomplishment.

In 1992 Jane and Michael relocated to Lebanon, Indiana where they made home for more than 30 years. Jane and Michael enjoyed traveling throughout the years. Multiple trips to Hawaii, cruises in the Caribbean, and the most enjoyable trip of all to Scotland to attend the wedding of the daughter of dear friends. Jane and Michael became members of a resort group in Mexico between Cancun and Playa del Carmen in 2010. They would make two to three trips a year to the resorts where they befriended many of the guests and especially the resort’s staff who became like family to them.

Survivors include her husband, Michael Allen Dobbins, Jane’s sister, Susan Jean McConocha of Cleveland, Ohio, and multiple cousins in the Boston area that she and her husband were happy to spend time with together. Michael is survived by his sister Antoinette (Toni) Dobbins of Columbus, Ohio.

No services are planned. Myers Mortuary and Boone County Crematory have been entrusted with her cremation arrangements.
