Frankfort Police Investigating Fight/Shooting

On May 5th, 2024 At approximately 8:36 PM, Frankfort Police responded to the 300 Block of Bunnell Street for a report of a fight where it was reported shots were fired. As the officers arrived, multiple people were on scene with two suffering from gunshot wounds. The suspected shooter, 39-year-old Alvaro Leon-Bautista of Frankfort was quickly detained. As additional Frankfort officers arrived, along with the Clinton County Sheriff’s Office and Department of Natural Resources, two other victims were located with wounds caused by shrapnel.

Additional officers, detectives and our crime scene investigator responded to the scene. The two victims suffering from gunshot wounds were transported to IU Arnett Lafayette by Clinton County EMS. The two with shrapnel injuries declined medical treatment.

Leon-Bautista was initially arrested for Criminal Recklessness and Pointing a Firearm. He was transported to the Clinton County Jail. He has not been officially charged at this time.

This is an active investigation involving multiple different individuals and evidence. Our entire investigations division has been investigating the case since last night. Anyone having information regarding the case can contact the lead investigator, Detective Major Jason Albaugh.

Final decision on charges will be made by the Clinton County Prosecutors Office.
