Prosecutors plan to charge a man who's accused of holding hostages at a home in Lafayette as a Habitual Offender. 32-year-old Justin Altwein, of Frankfort, was charged with eight criminal counts Wednesday, including six felonies. Altwein is accused of holding three people inside a garage on South 18th Street early Sunday morning and beating one of them with a pistol. Witnesses told police he had two pistols, and confronted them about stolen property. Altwein has previous convictions, including for weapons crimes.
