Frankfort Library Host The Indiana Historical Society Traveling Exhibit

The Frankfort Public Library is planning for an exciting May with a variety of programs and activities as they display the Indiana Historical Society’s (IHS) traveling exhibit, Indiana Disasters. This exhibit, made possible by Kroger, explores all kinds of disasters, such as floods, tornadoes, blizzards, and droughts, and how they are remembered by Indiana communities.

Guests will see photographs and newspaper headlines from various IHS collections which capture these unforgettable Indiana catastrophes. Images, newspaper articles, illustrations, and survivor accounts will be on display to show how Hoosiers have persevered in the face of disaster. The Library’s Genealogy Department is also assisting with local newspaper articles. They will be on display as part of the exhibit, as well as information on a few historical tragedies from the Purdue University Archives.

This event and exhibit will be held in conjunction with the Friends of the Frankfort Public Library’s Annual Meeting on May 9. The programs and exhibit will open on Friday, May 9, and the exhibit will be displayed through May 30.
