Deloris “Dee” Galvin

Deloris “Dee” Galvin, 97, of Lebanon, passed away Wednesday, December 25, 2024, at Homewood Health Campus in Lebanon. She was born December 12, 1927, in Lebanon, a daughter of the late Zora “Chester” and Emma Agnes (Sallee) Acton. Dee married Floyd O. Galvin in 1946, and he preceded her in death in 1997.

 

Dee graduated from Pinnell High School with the class of 1946. During high school, she had worked for Milledgeville grocery store. Following marriage, she then worked for Pittman Moore in Zionsville, Red Ball Transit, and was a caregiver for Judge and Mrs. Hutcheson. Dee retired from Central Hardware after 10 years.

 

Dee and her husband, Floyd, enjoyed travelling all over the country, visiting fellow veterans from Floyd’s company and the 78th Division from World War II, who they considered family. She enjoyed playing euchre and had belonged to the Tri Hi Euchre Club for over 20 years. Dee also enjoyed playing BINGO, crocheting, and cooking for her neighbors, especially chili. She would also winter in Spring Hill, Florida for many years. 

 

Survivors include her son, Reggie (Helen) Galvin of Indianapolis; daughter, Marcia (Ralph) Blair of Lebanon; daughter-in-law, Diana Galvin (fiancé, Rick Gardner); sister, Lois Horlacher of Lebanon; sister-in-law, Karin Galvin; grandchildren, Nick (Katie) Galvin and Josh (April) Galvin; step-granddaughter, Cindy Blair-Sampson (Bill); great grandchildren, Harrison Galvin, Hendricks Galvin, and Emilee Galvin; step- great grandchildren, Kylee Brooks and Payton Jordan; and several nephews, nieces, and cousins. 

 

In addition to her parents and husband, Dee was preceded in death by her son, Terry Galvin; granddaughter, Autumn Galvin; and brothers-in-law, Carl Horlacher and Leslie Galvin. 

 

Family and friends will gather Tuesday, December 31, for visitation from 10 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 12 p.m. in the Strawmyer & Drury Mortuary, 2400 N. Lebanon Street, Lebanon. Dee will be laid to rest at Oak Hill Cemetery in Lebanon.

 

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Senior Citizens Center, 707 S. Lebanon Street, Lebanon, IN 46052.
