Clinton County Awarded $1.5 Million In Road Improvement Grants

Clinton County has been awarded a $1.5 million Community Crossings Matching Grant from the Indiana Department of Transportation. The grant covers up to 75% of the construction costs, allowing Clinton County to complete approximately $2 million in road paving projects at a significantly reduced cost to local taxpayers.

“It costs roughly $250,000 to pave one mile of road, so this grant will allow us to repave approximately eight miles of road at a cost to the taxpayer of only two miles,” says Clinton County Highway Superintendent Rick Campbell. “This is a great opportunity for us to make vital improvements at a fraction of the cost.”

The Community Crossings Matching Grant Program is designed to assist cities, towns, and counties across Indiana with funding for local road and bridge projects. The Clinton County projects funded by the grant include the resurfacing of:

·       Mulberry Jefferson Road from Jackson Street to County Road 700 W

·       County Road 700 from West Mulberry Jefferson Road to the Mulberry town limits

·       Gas Line Road from West County Road 200 to the north Mulberry town limits

Clinton County has been a frequent recipient of the Community Crossings Matching Grant Program, receiving nearly $10 million in total over the past seven years.
