Charlene Woodard

Mrs. Charlene Woodard, 83, of Lebanon, passed away Monday, November 18, 2024, at her home surrounded by family. She was born November 5, 1941, in Boone County, a daughter of the late Raleigh and Letha (Hine) Copenhaver. She married William Woodard on May 28, 1961, and he survives. Charlene graduated from Pinnell School with the class of 1959. She had worked for Adler’s and Linton Oil, along with cleaning houses. She was a member of the Lady Elks, serving as President for several years. Charlene loved to shop, and enjoyed playing BINGO and bowling. Her family was especially important to her and she enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and going to their sporting events. Charlene also loved family get-togethers, where she would cook and was known for her peanut butter fudge. Christmas was her favorite time of the year, where she enjoyed decorating, along with collecting snowmen and nut crackers. Charlene loved flowers, along with square dancing with her husband. She never made anyone feel like a stranger. Everyone was welcome at Mamaw’s and Papaw’s house. She had her group at Titus and they were lovingly known as the “Donut Dollies.” Survivors include her loving husband of 63 years, William Woodard of Lebanon; sister, Sue Bennington; children, Marcia Owens of Lebanon, Mark (Cathy) Woodard of Darlington, and Monica (Mike Prevost) Jennings of Lebanon; grandchildren, Amber (Chris) Lewis, Whitney (Hunter) West, Matthew (Megan) Woodard, and Autumn (Kenneth) Scircle; and great grandchildren, Bryce (Clara) Johnson, Elizabeth Birge, Gabby West, Griffin West, Hadley Woodard, Hazel Woodard, and Jackson Scircle. Charlene was preceded in death by her son-in-law, Jeff Owens and siblings, Richard Copenhaver, Mildred Plunkett, Olive Seymour, Mary Croft, Joe Copenhaver, Fern Ward, Norma Noland, Barbara Hutson, Judith Copenhaver, Phyllis Dale, and Jack Copenhaver. Memorial contributions in her memory may be made to the Boone County Cancer Society, 1208 N. Lebanon Street, Lebanon, IN 46052. Family and friends will gather Saturday, November 23, for visitation from 10:30 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 12 p.m. in the Strawmyer & Drury Mortuary, 2400 N.
