Barbara Coe, 90, of Lebanon, Indiana, passed away on December 27 at Grand Brook of Zionsville Memory Care.
Barbara was born on June 13th, 1934 in St. Louis, Michigan. She was the daughter of the now late Minnie Miller Johnson and Robert Johnson. She married Ralph Coe on August 11, 1956. He preceded her in death.
Barb graduated in 1952 from high school in Alma, Michigan. In 1967, she became a resident of Lebanon, Indiana. She was employed by St. Joseph Church as a bookkeeper, later retired from a career as the business manager of the Reporter. Barb served many as a self-employed preparer of income taxes.
Barbara shared her Catholic faith by serving communion to parishioners during Mass as well as delivering the sacraments to those not physically able to attend in person services. Barb, an avid gardener, enjoyed her family, ice cream, dancing, singing, collecting bells and rocks from every new travel destination, card playing, water aerobics, and the women's club events at Japanese Gardens in Venice, Florida.
Survivors include siblings, Robert (Sharon) Johnson and Sandy Fountain; children, Teri Teague of San Antonio, TX, Craig Coe of Indianapolis, IN, and Penny (Patrick) Jamison of Lebanon, IN; grandchildren, Nathan (Traci) Teague, Andrew Teague, Sarah (Joshua) Simek, Samantha Coe, Erika Jamison, Joseph (Kristin) Jamison, Matthew Jamison; 15 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her brother, Ronald Johnson, sister, Sharon Johnson, and son-in- law, Samuel Teague.
Family and friends will gather Saturday, January 4, at St. Joseph Catholic Church for visitation beginning at 10 a.m., and a Mass of Christian Burial starting at 11 a.m. with the Father Stephen Duquaine officiating. Barbara will be laid to rest at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Lebanon.
