A judge on Thursday sentenced the man who supplied the gun that killed Boone County Sheriff’s Deputy Jacob Pickett to 48 ½ years of prison. Boone Superior Court Judge Bruce Petit encouraged John Austin Ball, 24, to take advantage of prison programs to reform himself while there and to improve his life for his two sons, if for no other reason.
