Alvina Katherine “Babe” Rheinheimer, 98, passed away on Monday, March 17, 2025, at Signature Healthcare at Parkwood in Lebanon, Indiana. She was born in Park Rapids, Minnesota on April 28, 1926; a daughter of the late Charles and Alberta (Lund) Trowbridge.
Ms. Rheinheimer resided in Minnesota until the 1940’s. On May 20, 1950, she was united in marriage to John Frederick Rheinheimer in Goshen, Indiana. He preceded her in death on November 4, 2006.
Following her marriage the couple resided in Goshen for several years and then a year in Pendleton, Oregon. They then moved to Indiana and spent short periods in Topeka, Rome City, and Wolcottville before they moved to Noblesville and then to Westfield. They spent thirty-seven years in Westfield and moved to live in Lebanon in April of 2006.
Babe was a skilled seamstress who made wedding dresses, suits, and crocheted blankets for family and friends. She enjoyed spending time with her family, teaching her grandchildren how to sew and crochet. She also played cards and baked cookies with them.
Survivors include her three children, Pamela K. (William) Nellis of Lebanon, John F. Rheinheimer, Jr. of Sheridan, and Penny M. (Kevin) Bennett of Westfield; five grandchildren, five great grandchildren, and three great-great grandchildren; brother, Roger (Yvonne) Trowbridge; and sister, Lois Tidwell.
In addition to her parents and husband, Alvina was preceded in death by a daughter, Patricia Ann Rheinheimer; three brothers; and two sisters.
Celebration of life services are planned for Alvina and her daughter, Patricia at 12:00 noon on Saturday, April 26, 2025, at Myers Mortuary, 1502 North Lebanon Street, in Lebanon, Indiana. Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services.
Memorials may be directed in her memory to the American Legion Post 155, 852 West Main Street, Carmel, Indiana 46032.
