On October 7, 2024, at approximately 10:34 AM, the Boone County Sheriff’s Office was dispatched to a 2-vehicle traffic accident involving a pickup truck and a Utility Terrain Vehicle (UTV). The accident occurred in the area of 8800 West 300 South.
Upon arrival, first responders located the UTV and pickup truck in the roadway. The UTV was driven by Stacey Sutphin, 61, of Jamestown, IN. The pickup truck was driven by Sherry Emmert, 73, of Jamestown, IN. Preliminary investigation shows that both vehicles were traveling west on County Road 300 South. The UTV was traveling in front of the pickup truck before the accident occurred. The UTV began to turn left into a local farm on 300 South at the same time the pickup truck was attempting to pass. The pickup then struck the UTV.
Sutphin was transported from the scene to a local hospital where she later succumbed to her injuries. Emmert stayed on the scene and was not injured. The Boone County Fatal Alcohol Crash Team was requested to investigate the accident.
