Melvin Arnold, 89, passed away at his home in Lebanon, Indiana on Monday, August 10, 2026. He was born on June 19, 1937 in Thorntown, a son of the late Walter and Ersa E. (Ford) Arnold. On November 1, 1968, he married Peggy Sue (Jolly) in Lebanon; she survives. Melvin was a self-employed carpenter. Drive Thru Food Pantry Returns Saturday
The St. Vincent de Paul Society’s 5 Loaves & 2 Fish Food Pantry at St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church of Lebanon is this Sat, August 15th. The hours are 9:30am-11:30am. The Food Pantry is held on the 1st and 3rd Saturdays of the month. It is a drive thru pantry. You’ll be instructed as you enter the parking lot.

Thorntown Fire Plans For Fish Fry
The Thorntown Sugar Creek Fire Departments 12th Annual Fish Fry Fundraiser is this Saturday. This is an All you can eat fish fry. Enjoy Fish, applesauce, coleslaw, bread, hotdogs, and lemonade for $15 for adults and $7 for children. Cash only. Desserts will be provided by the Women’s Auxiliary. This event is used to fund training, equipment purchases, community events, repairs and upgrades to the fire department.
